So who is Weiss Provisions?

The success of Weiss Provisions has long been tied to these important themes: family-owned, delivering high-quality products, and providing an unparalleled customer experience. In 1958, the Weiss family operated a successful corned beef, roast beef, and pastrami manufacturer downtown, and later on the South Side. Their well-respected quality products were a cornerstone of delis, eateries, and restaurants throughout our region. Back in 1995, Harold Weiss, the owner of the business, was looking to retire and was adamant about keeping the business locally based and family owned.

At the time, a local entrepreneurial businessman was looking to find a way to buy a business in which he could live in the region to raise his family and also support the local economy. He purchased Weiss Provisions and maintained the successful legacy of the business. Within a year of purchasing the business, it was determined there was an opportunity to provide Western Pennsylvania restaurants with unique center-of-the-plate solutions. Today, a team of trained meat cutters hand cut product daily which guarantee restaurants the able to properly manage their food costs and expect only the freshest products.

The core values that Weiss Provision Company continues to embrace after being in business for over 60 years are these: provide great quality products and exceed our customers’ expectations at every opportunity. Our unique ability to provide a wide range of meats, poultry, pork, game meats, and cheeses enables customers to count on our products and service. Our broad portfolio of items includes prime grade, Berkshire pork, antibiotic-free chicken, wagyu beef, and locally sourced proteins. All of our products are hand-cut by highly trained meat cutters. In addition, Weiss Provisions continues to manufacture our own corned beef, roast beef, and pastrami. This is the same recipe that our company founder instituted back in 1958 (and still tastes delicious).
